mouth to mouth
(2022) : sculpture, sound (various formats)mouth to mouth examines identity and relationality through intimate sonic exchanges. Two speakers, screwed together, create a closed-off environment where sound is shared only within the object. Spectators are positioned as voyeurs, unable to access the full scope of this conversation. This piece critiques notions of autonomy and explores the co-constructed nature of experience, presenting sound as a force that both connects and alienates. It asks audiences to consider their position within systems of inclusion, exclusion, and mediated intimacy.
This work was spatialised into Ambisonic sound and presented at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts as part of the event series “Ambisonic Nights”, which was a part of the KUV research project “Sonic Orientations” led by Jenny Gräf Sheppard.
