CHORALE_x is a continuing investigation into tinnitus, and tinnitus tones, the subjective sound that each person who experiences it hears. The work connects individual sonic realities to broader questions about how personal experience is shaped by external forces, including cultural and systemic trauma. By reconstructing tinnitus tones in collaboration with participants, CHORALE_x creates a space where the personal and the collective overlap, inviting reflection on the ways sound operates as a marker of memory, trauma, and relationality.
Made from a personal collection of tinnitus tones re-created in collaboration with people who experience it, the works under the title CHORALE take the form of multichannel sound, Ambisonics, and live performance, and have been presented in places such as Cafe OTO (UK), The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (DK), Mayhem (DK) and Centrale Fies (IT).
